how many cataflam 50MG would you need to take to kill you? or make you go unconscious? i'm writing a story for my expository writing class and in my story Danielle O.D. s to kill herself but it doesn't work/ how many of cataflam 50 MG would she have to take to kill her self and how many would she have to take to render her unconscious but not dead? thank you

dremadagwa replied: "if it is a story make false no like 10 and 20 tab"

W W D replied: "She'd pretty well have to choke to death on the pills. You'll have to use some other type of medication, as NSAID's don't do that. They upset the stomach and can cause gastrointestinal bleeding, and they decrease renal blood flow, but they won't work in your story line."

Can a person get a high off of Cataflam? I dont know if my brother is really in pain or if you uses it to get a high. I want to see if it is even possable to get a high before i tell my mom, i dont want to tell on him if nothing is wrong.

liplollie replied: "Most likely no "high" is felt when taking Cataflam. It's like a stronger version of Aleve (Naproxyn Sodium/Naprosyn). Works as an anti-inflammatory drug. At higher doses, it can make you sleepy, so unless he's using it to help himself fall asleep, then I wouldn't doubt his pain."

jprn replied: "No, this medication is in the same category as tylenol, so it wont make you high. However, taking too much of it can have some very serious consequences, especially bleeding in the stomach. If you feel your brother is taking this drug more than directed, you should inform him of the side effects, or if you dont feel comfortable with that, tell your mom. Good luck! Your brother is lucky to have a caring sibling like you."

Can I take Cataflam with Dequacaine? I don't want to dope myself, but I have a really bad soar throat.

Mitchell T replied: "Hello, I can not find any listing of drug interactions for Cataflam with Dequacaine in my drug guide. There should be a listing under Major Interactions or Moderate Interactions in my guide- if either is known to affect the other. Neither is listed under the heading of the other. I have cross-checked at four reputable sites. Same result. Based on this, I would say you are safe. If in any doubt, contact a drug store, and they will be able to tell you over the telephone. Just as a precaution: Do not take more than 8 Dequacaine lozenges in 24 hours (if you are taking the lozenges and not the spray). Do not take tylenol or aspirin with Cataflam. I can only imagine how badly your throat must be hurting. I hope it gets better soon."

can someone tell me what a med name cataflam 50mg is used to treat it says take one three times a day? i'm not sure what the doc. gave it to me for

dancer3252002 replied: "Cataflam (also known as Diclofenac) is in a group of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is used to treat pain or inflammation and works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body."

J D replied: "Cataflam is an anti-inflammatory. It's used for inflammation and or pain."

Chris B replied: "This medication is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that relieves pain and reduces inflammation (swelling). I t is used to treat headaches, muscle aches, dental pain, menstrual cramps and athletic injuries. It is most commonly used to treat pain, swelling and stiffness associated with arthritis. Hope you found this helpful!"

I'm asking about a pain medication called DICLOFENAC POT 50 MG the generic name is CATAFLAM.? The question is has anyone heard of this medication? The doctor that gave it to me said it is suppose to help relieve the pain that I have when I have my menstrual cycles. Can this medication be used for other types of pain and how good is the medication if anyone has ever heard of it? Again the medication is called DICLOFENAC POT 50 MG and it is generic for CATAFLAM.

mompoo replied: "It is primarily used for arthritis."

What are possible causes for 27 month old persistent high fever? Fever of up to 105, panadol syrup and cataflam help for only maybe two hours then it is back and rising rapidly. Paediatrician found throat and ears fine. No visible cause, finished dose of Azithromycin. After three nights of no sleep I need help, two visits to the doctor, nothing. How do I keep her fever down? spongebaths, air conditioning nothing seems to work. HELP!

mommyof2boys replied: "Have you tried sponging her with rubbing alcohol? That's what they used to do in the old days! LOL...not any experience with it, but I would definatly try it. As far as the height of her fever, I would take her to the ER, explain to them what has been happening...a high fever can cause brain damage after having it for a while. I don't mean to scare you, but I would definatly take charge and get a second opinion, your baby is depending on you, and I know how nerve racked you can get as a mom that has had a severly sick baby.."

lovepets replied: "see for a second opinion"

michele a replied: "It could be a virus. Be careful w/ her running that high of a fever, My daughter had a febrile seizure from being dehydrated.(her electrolytes got too low) it was the scariest thing I have ever been through. If she needs fluids take her to the ER ASAP. Watch her very closely, I'll pray for her to feel better."

mommy2jackjack replied: "You can alternate Tylenol and Ibuprofen every 3 hours. And put her in a warm bath, not cool or cold. If you let her get cold and she shivers at all, her fever will get higher. So let her sit in a warm bath and just the air on her wet skin will help more than cool water. Continue alternating the Tylenol and Ibuprofen, sometimes FeverAll suppositories can last longer and work a lot faster than oral meds. That is the same med as Tylenol, so don't use them together. You need to take her back to the doctor tomorrow and ask for a CBC to be drawn. They do it off of a finger stick and the results are immediate. That will tell them what her white count is. And then you will know if she has an infection or a virus. And sometimes, Z-pack, is not the best thing for them. There are stronger anti-biotics on the market. But that all depends on if it is bacterial. I am sure that you know that viruses would not react to anti-biotics so asking for one would not help. But I would try the baths and alternating meds. Maybe try the suppositories and then take her back in tomorrow and ask for a CBC. Good luck"

lizzee replied: "If fever persists call pediatrician or go to hosp. do not use alcohol rubs!!!!!!! tepid baths only about 95 -99 degrees!! Could be viral and amount of antibiotics will help!"

Erin replied: "DO NOT RUB DOWN WITH ALCOHOL!!! If you do that, you close the pores and the child is not able to sweat, without sweating the fever can become dangerously high. Please ignore the last entry. I do not know the meds that you use (different country, different names for medications) but keep her hydrated, alternate acetaminophen and ibuprophen every four hours and you can do luke warm baths. You have already covered yourself for any bacterial infections by taking the azithromycin, so the fever is probably caused by a virus and there may not be any other symptom. Viruses like these can last 3-5 days"

What do i do to an aching muscle at the back of my right tigh. It is so painful that i shed tears.? The origin of the pain is at the joint between the tigh and the hip. The pain often flows down the whole back muscle of my right leg. X-ray reveals there is no problem with the bone. I was advised by the physician to use cataflam but the pain keeps coming when the effect of the drug subsides. I cannot link the pain to any injury or incident. It just started like a mild pain and has become very strong now.

Hubert B replied: "Either use Bengay or go to Whirlpool."

giwsd replied: "Try to ice it. Ice is helpful in relieving aching muscles."

sam21462 replied: "It is very possibly not really your leg at all .. you should probably have someone take a look for a bulging or ruptured disk in your lower back."

sQricky replied: "YOU NEED SOME EXERCISE PRETTY BADLY.LACK OF EXERCISE MIGHT HAVE WEAKENED THE BONE.OR WRENCHED A TENDON.GET SOME LIGHT EXERCISES, AND DONOT EAT PAINKILLERS.INSTEAD EAT VITAMIN AND CALCIUM TABS."

tzstylin replied: "could be disc or nerve injury. almost sounds like piriformis (check spelling) or sciatica (check spelling). go to chiropractor. does it hurt when bending/stretching or all the time? have you had other injury in that area? like from football when you were younger."

Is it possible to overdose on a mixture of Cataflam and Ibuprofen...Root Canal and in so much pain!!!? Someone please tell me....i have had 1200 mg of Ibuprofen and 100 mg of cataflam in the last 6 hours for pain from a root canal but i am still in soooooo much pain...i am ready to take more but i am scared of overdosing....how much can i take together? thanks for the answer - specifically from the dentist...the probelm is that i am in egypt and i am not sure of the whole system here of drugs...tried to contact my dentist in the states, but is not available....also, this was day one of a three part rot canal...doing back tomorrow and then the next day before i go back to england on friday...can i ask for narcotics tomorrow....this over the counter stuff of ibuprofen is a joke!!! can i take advil again..that always works well for me...

Malik M replied: "No! Dont take it. Please take the drug as directed by the doctor. It is not worth overdosing."

Muschi replied: "Call the doc's office and ask if you can take more, it already has been 6 hours since your last dose, I would just take another Ibupfrofen."

Liligirl replied: "You NEED to contact your endodontist and report this pain, as once the nerves inside the tooth are removed the only pain you should feel is that of being sore from being manipulated. Excessive pain following a root canal could indicated that not all the nerves were removed. Some teeth have very small roots in unexpected positions, that are hidden or undetected by xrays. They are rogue and do contain a nerve, which, as the other nerves in the tooth have been amputated, would create quite a lot of pain. this pain may quiet down over time but it will come back, with a vengence and retreatment, another root canal treatment on the rogue root, will be necessary."

Birdlady replied: "Yes, please call your doctor's office at once for advice! He/she can call in (if necessary) an appropriate medication. Meanwhile, use an ice pack. 20 minutes on, 10 or so off. Your doctor's office should have an answering service that will get your message to him/her. It is best to get professional advice. I hope you feel better soon. Hang in there!"

Nebula D replied: "I'm a dentist. Yes, it is possible to overdose on these medications. And by taking them together, you reduce the maximum dose of each that can be taken. I am not sure what the "do-not-exceed" dose of Cataflam (Diclofenac) is in a 24-hour period. When I have prescribed it, the most I have prescribed is 75mg twice a day. As with Ibuprofen, the maximum dose in a 24-hour period is 3200mg when taken alone. NSAIDs are metabolized by the liver, and some of these metabolites are toxic to the kidney. When taken in excess, you can put yourself in acute renal failure. Obviously, this is not good. If you are having that much pain from your root canal, you very likely need narcotics. Unless there was a specific reason for you to not have narcotics, I would consider it extremely inconsiderate--if not negligent--on your doctor's part to not prescribe them for you. For my patients, with little exception, I prescribe Lortab 5/500 at very least, and Percocet 5/500 if I think pain is going to be an issue. Call the doctor's office. In the meantime, consider switching to Tylenol. The maximum dose of Tylenol you can take in a day is 4000mg, but that is a hell of a lot, and I would never recommend that anyone take that much."

Sheeeeeee replied: "Ibuprofen can cause a lot of gastric discomfort if taken in high dose. I dont understand why root canal treatment is so painful. I do root canals every day about 3-4 & no one has complainted so far. I had been pratcicing say from 1986, 22 years & I had no complaints, may be some infected nerve is left back? If you are comfortable with the medicin you take, you carry on with it. Need to open up the RC and clean again."
